Win Chemicals - Continuing to Innovate

June 15, 2023 - Third Party Lab Validates All Key Win Chemical Products Are Below The New York State Minimum of 1 ppm for 1,4-dioxane

Burlington, Ontario – Win Chemicals announced today that all their key product lines meet or is below the New York State minimum of 1ppm for 1,4-dioxane that will be going into effect on January 1, 2024.

“I am so proud of our team. We saw this coming 4 years ago and put a strategy together for all our current and future chemistries to meet or exceed the New York State 1,4-dioxane requirements,” stated Mark Goodale, Managing Director, Win Chemicals. “Our goal is to make our customers successful. We invested an enormous amount of time, money and energy into our manufacturing processes and labs along with third-party testing labs to ensure our products have no material change to their chemical composition.”

The Win Approach with 1,4-dioxane

The Win Chemicals team made it a priority that there will be no material change to the chemical composition of their products, have the 1,4 contaminant below 1ppm (in some cases an order of magnitude below), and to ensure that they are still delivering the required power that is brought with ethoxylated chemistry. Working alongside customers has been paramount in testing the new materials with lab results proving this to be true in the field with no change to the chemistry (except the reduction of the 1,4-dioxane contaminant - where even the raw material “as supplied” is below the regulated required levels).

This achievement allows Win Chemicals to continue its business model of success by making great multi-dimensional chemistries, helping create powerful cleaning and descaling formulas that reduce or eliminate VOC’s and toxic and dangerous chemicals.  Win continues to partner with customers’ formulators to bring the best chemistries to bear while meeting performance targets and maintaining or reducing formula costs.

This change continues Win Chemicals long time commitment of supporting our customers in being well ahead of changes to the regulatory environment in Canada, USA and European Union.

About New York State 1,4-dioxane Amendment

New York State passed amendments on January 1, 2022 to Environmental Conservation Law (ECL) Article 35 and Article 37 to restrict the presence of harmful chemicals in household cleaning, personal care, and cosmetic products sold or offered for sale in the state. The law establishes a maximum allowable concentration of 2 parts per million (ppm) of 1,4-dioxane by December 31, 2022, and 1 ppm by December 31, 2023, for household cleaning and personal care products. The DEC's ongoing efforts to protect public health and the environment reflect the state's commitment to preventing exposure to emerging contaminants. The new laws will build upon the state's nation-leading efforts to regulate harmful chemicals in consumer products.

June 5, 2023 - Win Chemicals Ltd. Introduces Revolutionary Surfactant GTQTM For Enhanced Cleaning Performance

Burlington, Ontario – Win Chemicals announced today that it has released GTQTM, a high-performance cost-competitive surfactant designed to improve cleaning performance across a range of industries. The innovative product took over four years to develop and has been successfully Beta tested with multiple customers and applications. GTQTM is listed on CleanGredients and is non-corrosive under GHS.

“GTQTM is a significant step forward in our desire to produce chemistry that will allow people to eliminate or significantly reduce the use of VOCs in their formulas” stated Mark Goodale, Managing Director, Win Chemicals. “Although we have long-standing chemistries that will do this in our portfolio, GTQTM is a significant advancement in the cost: performance ratio. In other words, GTQTM is significantly lower in cost and it makes this high level of performance now available to lower cost end formulations.  It took us over four years to develop, successfully beta test, and now officially launch this product to our markets. GTQTM is a high performing multi-dimensional surfactant that is very competitively priced on an at-use cost basis for our customers.”

“I am so proud of our innovation team and how much effort they put into GTQTM while still serving our current customers,” said Rod Thomson, Sr. Director, Research and Development, Win Chemicals. “We listened to the marketplace and delivered what they have been asking for.

June 2017 - Vitech International Inc. (an American company) and Win Chemicals LTD announce a joint effort for                                   expansion into the European Union

Back in 2016, both companies invested a considerable amount of time and cost into developing a product line that would be compliant with REACH regulations. This strong product offering has allowed us to fully commit to the European market and as a result create a new startup company called TriadaChem Ltd.  This new venture is based in Europe and finally services this market with the same expertise and consultative approach that has made Win successful for well over 20 years.

Win launches QHD

Continuing to expand the Q family of products, QHD is a powerful surfactant system for heavy duty degreasing. QHD (stands for ‘Q-Heavy Duty’) has exceptional cleaning capabilities especially in lower dilution systems. This technology significantly extends the boundaries of water based cleaning.

Win launches iQLF

A breakthrough in high detergency low foam cleaning. First generation LFQ broke through the barrier of low foam cleaning with good detergency. With a continued push in the low foam category, iQLF takes significant steps forward providing higher dilution rates, and significantly better detergency for automatic parts washers and floor scrubbers to name a few. Depending on your application, both the iQLF or LFQ will offer amazing detergency and degreasing without the foam. Ask our technical experts which of these two low foam surfactants would be right for your formula!

Win completes its regulatory review of its product offerings for Europe

Win completes its regulatory review of its product offerings for Europe, and introduces a REACH compliant list of 26 chemistries. This is helping enable North American customer’s to expand into the EU, as well as supporting Win’s interests in EU markets.

Canadian patent awarded for Win’s ALB

As safe alternatives to hydrofluoric acid, ALB and APW offer strong performance relative to hydrofluoric acid, without the serious health effects on workers and their safety, as well as the damage to glass and metal surfaces that can occur with HF based products.

Win leads the charge in launching GHS SDS’s 6 months before the deadline

With these new GHS changes come new pictograms which are resulting in chaos with many customers whom require costly label changes. Win is minimizing the impact of this because our “core chemistries” are not classified as corrosive under GHS. Another testament to the safety and performance of Win’s Q chemistries.

Win Chemicals Launches LFQ, a low foam surfactant with powerful detergency

Win Chemicals' pursuit of the 'holy grail' of surfactant technology, a low foam surfactant that actually has great detergency, has finally come to fruition. LFQ is designed to have the strong wetting and detergency characteristics of our flagship Q3 technology but without the foam. It is also designed to offer customers the ability to lower costs by being low foam at all temperatures, saving on energy costs, and potentially lowering alkalinity to reduce wear on parts.

Win Chemicals Launches NSW4, a DEA and NPE free bucket wash concentrate

Building on the success of the previous generations of NSW, NSW4 is a response to the growing concern and Prop65 regulations regarding DEA. Going one step further to help limit further customer reformulations, it is also NPE free. NSW4 is a foaming bucket wash concentrate with superior water beading properties that leaves a durable, wax-like finish and reduces necessary drying following wash. It can also be used as a foaming spray wax in auto car wash, as well as in coin-op car wash.
